Watch out for the invincible moose

Years ago I worked with a guy who told me 'never argue with a moose', then told me about an incident a friend of his had had in New Hampshire(?). On that occasion the friend was driving along a back road when he came opon a moose blocking the road. He honked his car horn, but the moose didn't budge, so he honked again. This time the moose charged, kicked at the car, and totalled the front end! I don't know if this is really true, but moose are a lot bigger than the average white-tailed deer, and can be quite cranky as well.

I wonder if you're enjoying
the curvature of her back.
The spine, a row of ossified crowns
crowded and curved around that defining neural superhighway;
that extension cord,
adventurously connecting the visceral
to the peripheral.
The horseshoe crab vertebrae
scuttle to break through skin at your touch;
reach out,
a defining shiver.
I see your hands
around the rounded hills of her shoulders.
Scapulae jutting out with the extremity of the bend,
ungraceful,
like a chicken's wings.
